Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My partner and I just moved into this garden unit in South Slope, Brooklyn one month ago! It was a bit of a fixer-upper, but we were willing to take on the challenge to get a unit with a yard in our price range. My partner is a photographer and I just graduated with an interior design degree. We live with our 3-year-old pup Luna.

This is our first time living together and I think our apartment ended up being a perfect mix of both of our personalities and interests. Most of our furniture and art is bought secondhand, which brings a lot of life to a small space.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Modern, bohemian, cozy

What is your favorite room and why? The bedroom is my favorite room because it feels so open and bright despite being in a garden unit.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing I bought was the acrylic pedestals in the bedroom and living room. I found them at an estate sale! We’ve been working on a budget so taking time to find the right pieces on Craigslist / estate sales has been fun.

Any advice for creating a home you love? It’s all in the details. Showcase the pieces you love and that have meaning to you by putting them in places you can enjoy them everyday. It is the quickest way to make a new apartment feel like home. Also lights! We changed all the light fixtures and it made such a difference.
