Saskatoon police say they’ve wrapped up the search of a property in the city’s Sutherland neighbourhood after what appears to have been a scary surprise for a homeowner.
In a news release issued on Thursday, police said they were called around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after the owner of a home in the 100 block of 109th Street found what appeared to be an explosive device.
The release didn’t clarify the nature of the device; however, members of the police bomb squad and Canadian Forces personnel from the Dundurn ammunition depot were brought to the scene. They were able to determine the explosive was likely many years old and no longer active.
Nearby homeowners were warned about the situation as a precaution while military and police officers searched the property to ensure there were no more potential explosives.
By early Thursday afternoon, police reported that no more devices were found and all personnel had left the scene.
