High-Efficiency Clothes Washers

  • High efficiency clothes washers use 55% less water than standard clothes washers.
  • High efficiency clothes washers also use less overall energy, which may contribute to a reduction in both your water and energy costs.
  • Rebates start at $85 per eligible model.

Premium High-Efficiency Toilets (PHETs)

  • Use almost 20% less water than the current WaterSense standard.
  • Qualifying toilets must appear on the Qualifying Products List.
  • Rebates start at $40 for qualified toilets.

Flow Monitor/Leak Detection Devices

  • Flow monitor/Leak detection devices monitor your home’s water use and can help detect leaks.
  • Some models allow for remote water shutoff, some allow for both indoor water and outdoor water-use monitoring.
  • Applicants are encouraged to research devices to determine what model best fits your needs.
  • Rebates start at $100 for qualifying models.
  • Qualifying models must appear on the Qualifying Products List; however, not all models will qualify in all areas.

Up to 70% of California’s entire residential water supply is applied to home landscapes, yet many landscapes are overwatered due to sprinkler controllers that are not programmed properly. The following outdoor products and devices are designed to reduce waste, usage and homeowner costs.

Weather-based Irrigation Controllers (WBICs)

  • Automatically adjusts the irrigation schedule to account for changing weather, soil conditions and plant types;
  • May save over 13,500 gallons of water per year!
  • Rebates start at $80/controller for less than 1 acre of landscape; $35/station for more than 1 acre – Eligible devices will be rebated only for active stations. Active stations are those that are physically connected to an in-use irrigation system*

* A customer cannot apply for and receive a rebate for a Weather-Based Irrigation Controller (WBIC) AND a Soil Moisture Sensor System (SMSS). A customer who applies for one will be prohibited from applying for the other.

Rotating Sprinkler Nozzles

  • Rotating Sprinkler Nozzles apply water more slowly and uniformly to prevent over-watering and encourage healthy plant growth.
  • Can use up to 20% less water than conventional fan spray heads.
  • Rebates start at $2/nozzle; minimum quantity is 15 nozzles.

Rain Barrels & Cisterns

  • Collecting and re-using rainwater for lawns and gardens minimizes the amount of water flowing into your storm drains, sewer systems and local waterways.
  • Plants and microbes prefer rainwater because it is naturally “soft” and free of chlorine, fluoride and other chemicals.
  • Rebates start at $35 per barrel (up to 2 barrels) or $250-$350 for a cistern depending on gallon capacity.

* Homemade rain barrels or cisterns do not qualify for rebates.

Soil Moisture Sensor System

  • Detects water needs by gauging the moisture present in the soil.
  • Works in tandem with an irrigation controller to start and stop your water system based on the watering needs of the soil itself (as defined by the homeowner settings).
  • Rebates start at $80/controller for less than 1 acre of landscape; $35/station for more than 1 acre – Eligible SMSS will be rebated only for active stations. Active stations are those that are physically connected to an in-use irrigation system*

Turf Replacement Program
(Customers of participating water agencies only)

  • Reduce water usage by up to an estimated 60% by removing turf and converting to a drought tolerant landscape.
  • Increase curb appeal while promoting water savings.
