Saskatchewan reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 and 46 more recoveries on Saturday as it hit the milestone of 100,000 tests performed since the beginning of the pandemic.
On Friday, the province once again hit an all-time high for the number of tests performed in a day with 1,807. This brings the total number of tests done to 100,317.
The 15 new cases are in the north (four), Saskatoon (three), the south (seven) and Regina (one). There have also been 46 more recoveries, leaving 262 active cases across the province.
One of the new cases is a Saskatchewan resident who was tested out of province.
Fourteen people are currently in hospital, six of which are in intensive care.
With the uptick in new cases over the past week, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) said on Friday it was committing to hiring 90 new staff by the end of August to lower wait times when calling HealthLine.
Many people have also been experiencing delays in receiving their results from a COVID-19 test, which both Premier Scott Moe and Opposition leader Ryan Meili said was unacceptable.
